It Has Been A While But I’m Back

What I’ve Been Up To

As you may or may not know, I recently retired from the Military after 20 years.  It has been an adjustment to say the least; I still haven’t got used to wondering what I’m going to where to work in the morning.  On the other hand, the timing was right and although I miss the people I worked with the timing was right for my family.

Along with retiring, we moved from Mississippi to Las Vegas.  I’m originally from Indiana, but after living in Las Vegas for nearly 7 years it is my adopted home.  I’m sure we won’t have a problem getting people to visit us out here.

Moving is always rough, but looking back on it we seem to have made the transition without any large incidents.

What Has Pooh Been Up To

K (spell it how you say it), also known as Pooh, has been doing great!  She is so precious to us and we are amazed at how she learns new things everyday.

She has two of the cutest teeth – both on the bottom – and is learning how to use them.  I was feeding her a cracker the other day and watching/feeling how she [...] Continue Reading…

We Have To Watch Every Move

Pooh will be 6 months old this Saturday (the 14th) and she is doing great.  I would say she at least doing things the average baby would do and possibly some things that would be considered advanced.  She is doing enough that we have to keep an eye on her constantly.

We have to watch her every move because one minute she can be sitting there playing with one of her toys and the next minute she isn’t.  No, she doesn’t get up and walk away – that would be amazing for a 6-month-old wouldn’t it?  She ends up on her stomach/face.  I know your first thought might be to think that she is simply losing her balance, but that really isn’t the case.  She has been sitting up on her own for a while now and until recently she could sit there for a while with no problems.  She is doing this on her own.

Whether it is out of frustration or to lean towards something she wants, she is falling (over) and she can’t get up!  When she is tired of sitting in one place, which could happen in 60 seconds, she will roll, lean or straighten her legs [...] Continue Reading…

Sitting Up And Being Cute!

It has been a while since I’ve updated the blog – that is partly because time seems to fly right on by.  Pooh is doing great and everyday is an amazing experience with her.  Don’t get me wrong, she is developing a personality and there are times when she just doesn’t want to be bothered, but there are a lot of people who feel that way.  She may be a baby, but we understand she is only human.

She is sitting up on her own now.  We aren’t really sure if 5 months is early, late or right on time for sitting up, but she is pretty good at it now.  We used to – I should actually say Kim did – look at books to see when she was supposed to be doing particular things, but that can get boring.  It is more fun to just watch her grow every day.  I can see a spark of independence, which she gets from her mother, that has me thinking she will be crawling and walking  before we know it.

I’ll be back soon to talk about her baby food experience and to show more pictures – we have a lot of [...] Continue Reading…

Dinnertime!

Today Kim went to the store and got some baby food for K (Pooh).  She has been (sort of) eating rice cereal for a couple of weeks now and is about to make the big jump.  Carrots, sweet potatoes, pears, etc.  It sounds really good!

I tried to feed her some cereal today followed by a little milk.  I thought everything was OK and I sat her beside me on the couch.  Shortly after this, my arm got warm all of a sudden and she threw up on me!  I guess the cereal and milk didn’t agree with her little system – at least not at that time.  It is OK though.  I never would have thought I could tolerate being thrown up on, slobbered on and…you know, the diapers.  But since she’s been here Daddy just takes it in stride, kisses her on the cheek and keeps on moving.

I’m changing!
